Q:  I have heard that fresh wheat grass juice is beneficial for liver damaged through alcohol abuse.  Is this a credible claim?  How much should I take?

A: Fresh wheat grass juice is an excellent tonic.  It is more specific for cleansing programs and cancer treatments than for liver treatments.  I would recommend Silybum marianum (milk thistle extract) for alcoholic liver disease and a dosage of 150 mg twice daily as a tonic.

Q: As a vegetarian, I am concerned about using joint support products as chondroitin (bovine trachea) or gelatin.  Can I achieve the same results with a vegan or vegetarian product?

A: Chondroitin has a molecular weight of 30,000 making it virtually unabsorbable in oral dosages.  I would recommend glucosamine sulfate 500 mg three times daily for joint support.  Recent studies convincingly demonstrate the effectiveness of glucosamine for the treatment of osteoarthritis – and it is a vegetarian product.
